Ingo Maurer is among the most fascinating, prolific and respected designers and artists of today. With a primary focus on what he calls the magic of lighting Ingo Maurer has created over 150 different lighting systems and illuminated sculptures like the Ingo Maurer Campari Lamp, the Lucellino, the Bulb, the pop-art "Canned Light", the Ingo Maurer Floatation. We have enjoyed our relationship with him for many years and visit his showroom in Munich as often as we can, just for inspiration.
Ingo Maurer often uses everyday materials and found objects for his light creations.He was among the first designers to develop a cable lighting system (YaYaHO) and from early on experimented with halogen and light-emitting diodes.
The names of the Ingo Maurer lights are almost as creative as the lights themselves: Alizz C. cooper, Willy Dilly, Licht.Einstein, Knitterling. I could go on and on.
Ingo Maurer seeks interaction from the users of his designs: there are mirrors to be directed, wires to string, love notes to attach to wires. Quirky details act as surprising elements that make you stop, look again to see if you were right, then smile. Alligators, inquisitive rats, chicken feet, scribbled love notes, wherever you look there's something new and exciting, something magical.
