Product Description
The Frisbi pendant was designed in 1978 by Achille Castiglioni for Flos. This truly wonderful piece does not only have a strong sculptural presence, but its design has accomplished solving the problem of overhead glare. The opal acrylic diffuser disc seemingly floats in space suspended from 3 fine steel cables under the incandescent light fixture. The diffuser provides both a soft diffused light as well as a more concentrated light through the hole in its center. A black metal stem and wire mesh basket assembly secure the reflector to the 16' power cord.
Achille Castiglioni studied architecture in Milan.Together with his brother Pier Giacomo Castiglioni he later formed one of the most respected and innovative partnerships in modern product design. They both felt strongly that design must restructure an object's form and function as well as the production process, and applied this to every design they produced. Most of Castilglioni's products have become modern design classics and are still in production. The MoMA has the most important designs by Achille Castiglioni in its permanent collection. All light fixtures and lamps are manufactured and distributed by Flos.
