Flos has reintroduced the modern classic Aoy that was designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1975. The design concept was to create a lamp from a cylinder of glass where the entire fixture would act as a diffuser instead of wasting it on the stem. The space at the bottom was designed to allow a cat to crawl in and nap in a warm space as well as allow you to clean the floor inside.

Achille Castiglioni studied architecture in Milan.Together with his brother Pier Giacomo Castiglioni he later formed one of the most respected and innovative partnerships in modern product design. They both felt strongly that design must restructure an object's form and function as well as the production process, and applied this to every design they produced. Most of Castilglioni's products have become modern design classics and are still in production. The MoMA has the most important designs by Achille Castiglioni in its permanent collection. All light fixtures and lamps are manufactured and distributed by Flos.
