Product Description
Flos has reintroduced the modern classic Toyo that was designed by Achille and Pier Castiglioni in 1962. This floor uplight was one of the first creations by the Castiglioni brothers. It was also one of the first lights designed for residential spaces using a low-voltage tungsten-halogen lamp. With the light source a car headlamp and the stem a fishing pole this unique piece has charm and character. It is a modern design classic that is on display in many museums around the world.
Achille Castiglioni studied architecture in Milan.Together with his brother Pier Giacomo Castiglioni he later formed one of the most respected and innovative partnerships in modern product design. They both felt strongly that design must restructure an object's form and function as well as the production process, and applied this to every design they produced. Most of Castilglioni's products have become modern design classics and are still in production. The MoMA has the most important designs by Achille Castiglioni in its permanent collection. All light fixtures and lamps are manufactured and distributed by Flos.
