This stunning torchiere was introduced at the June 2007 Trade Fair in Dallas. Not only is it a substantial piece with a beautiful design, but innovative technology makes it a "green machine".<BR> The concept of the “Afterburner” design is to increase the efficiency of the light output without increasing the use of electricity. One way to achieve a more efficient output is to burn the fluorescent lamp at a higher temperature. The design of the glass shade makes it possible to reflect the infrared light rays back to the tube as heat. As heat is reflected back onto the tube, the ambient temperature increases to approximately 35o C, warming the tube to a more efficient temperature without using more electricity.
