The 'lost wax' method of casting brass is a technique that is thousands of years old. An artifact is sculpted in wax then covered in clay and baked in a kiln. The heat burns away the wax leaving an empty, fire hardened form into which molten brass can be cast. The method is complex and time consuming, but the results are unforgettable. Replicating the lost wax method in the tradition of Donatello, Auguste Rodin, Frederick Remington and countless other masters of brass casting, we proudly present the Humbolt Collection. By replicating this classic technique this collection is able to to capture in meticulous detail the intricate simplicity of the pine cone and acorn.
