The Berenice floor lamp was designed by Paolo Rizzatto and Alberto Meda in 1985 for Luceplan.
In the floor version, Berenice is the ideal and discreet companion to your favorite reading chair. It is the inimitable founding product of a new type range of reasonably small sprung-jointed lamps.
The fluid articulation of its movements and its perfect stability make Berenice the light that can be moved around without occupying valuable space and with the least trouble. Berenice operates with a transformer that allows low tension current to reach the bulb through the rods without electrical cable, thus leaving its figure slender and elegant. Thanks to a special distancer fitted into the lower part of the head, the light can be brought very close to whatever needs to be illuminated, while maintaining the right distance from objects. A simple touch of the head ring, which is well insulated and independent from the bulb housing, will also orient the light in any direction. Metal parts in diecast aluminium. Reinforced nylon frictional joints. Rynite head. Parabolic reflector in pressed glass or in metal. Anti UV protection glass.
Luceplan was founded in 1978 by Italian architects Paolo Rizzatto, Ricardo Sarfatti and Sandra Severi.
In the early years Luceplan designed and produced lighting for a number of impressive and challenging commercial projects. Later they started manufacturing a series of contemporary lighting fixtures as well as table lamps and floor lamps. They promptly won the prestigious “Compasso d’Oro design prize in 1981 for the fixture D7.
Later came the Berenice Table lamp , the Constanza and the Constanzina, all well known and appreciated for their simple, clean lines.
New lighting designers have joined Luceplan over the years and have added to the creative designs that have made Luceplan so famous.
