Widely imitated the Akari light sculptures by American designer and sculptor Isamu Noguchi, are timeless and recognized as modern classics.

Designed in the early 1950's,  the Akari light sculptures are a harmonious blend of traditional Japanese handcraft and modernist form. 

The lamps are made from handmade washi paper and bamboo ribbing supported by a metal frame. The paper is handmade in Japan from Mulberry bark;  Noguchi chose this particular kind of paper for its "human warmth" .

Basic assembly is required.  Instructions are included.
